ANESTHESIA

Anesthesia poses a series of unique challenges due to the size and physiology of giraffe. Whether in a barn or field setting, we help your team plan the procedure and mitigate risks

We can help select drug protocols, monitor anesthesia, assist with diagnostics and therapeutics, and assist with recovery.

EMERGENCIES

When you are in a giraffe emergency situation, we can advise remotely or time permitting, may be able to come assist your giraffe and team.

We can also help your team plan for, train, and mitigate potential giraffe emergency situations.

LAMENESS

Hoof overgrowth, arthritis, and ligament injuries are common health concerns for zoo giraffe and can cause chronic lameness.

We help your team diagnose and manage primary causes of lameness and associated health issues in the hoof, joints, bones, soft tissues, or related to husbandry

PREGNANCY & NEONATE CARE

We help prepare for your giraffe birth and manage complications. This includes confirming pregnancy, health monitoring, modifying diet, and birth stall set-up.

During delivery we help evaluate when and how to intervene. We can also help develop treatment plans for calves with failure of passive transfer, limb abnormalities, or hand rearing needs.

PREVENTIVE MEDICINE

Health concerns of giraffe include chronic lameness, birth complications, nutritional imbalances, entrapments, and gastrointestinal parasites.

Our integrative medicine approach helps identify and prioritize health issues for your giraffe and develop a treatment plan that fits your individual giraffe and your facility.

THERMAL IMAGING

Thermal imaging of giraffe, elephants, rhino, and hippo provides a non invasive way to help identify physiologically significant regions that may be affected by arthritis, infection, muscle atrophy, or other health issues.

We can then help develop additional diagnostic and treatment plans for each clinical case and monitor the potential effects of those more targeted therapies.
