GIRAFFE
Giraffe are locally extinct in seven African countries and continue to be severely impacted by habitat loss, poaching, and climate change.
Dr. Dadone has been involved with giraffe conservation since 2016, when she started helping with projects led by local governments and NGO’s to restore giraffe to historic habitats in Uganda and Niger. She also served as a co-lead for AZA zoos’ Giraffe SAFE conservation collaboration for six years, developing conservation action plans and helping bring zoo community support to priority conservation.
We partner with Save Giraffes Now to help with critical giraffe conservation action. Please check back in soon for ways you can help ensure a future for giraffe.
MOUNTAIN TAPIR
Mountain tapir are the most endangered tapir species, with ~2,500 individuals remaining in the wild. They are found high in the Andes mountains of Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru.
We have been collaborating with the Andean Bear Foundation, local government, zoos, and specialists from the IUCN Tapir Specialist Group since 2016, to help study and protect mountain tapir. Our current work includes field anesthesias to GPS collar and do health assessments on this elusive species, and community engagement.
Stay tuned for ways you can help us protect mountain tapir.
